This fall, the shift hits the fan. A complex layering of astrological and astronomical alignments fuels the fires of transformation to new levels of intensity.

The Summer Solstice Flashpoint on June 21 and the Aquarius Full Moon Gateway on August 9 created a cosmic opening. We’re about to walk through.

Today's New Moon leads into a Lunar-Solar Eclipse series that culminates on the September 22 Equinox. Saturn opposes Neptune for the first time in 30 years, dissolving worn-out forms, ideals and beliefs. Jupiter trines Uranus and squares both Saturn and Neptune, urging us to release certain structures, thoughts and ideas in favor new, innovative approaches. That's just the beginning.

We're in a preparation phase. Watch for activation, acceleration and expansion this fall and into the winter months as Pluto stations direct and resumes his journey of alignment with the Galactic Center. This passage, in combination with several other planetary alignments that began in 1999, signals a period of accelerated transformation that’s about to reach a new peak.

Upcoming transits and alignments will lead us into uncharted territory, the adventure of many lifetimes. Because they involve a little thing called the black hole at the center of our galaxy, the changes will be felt throughout the universe and all dimensions. How's that for added intrigue?

In other words, something really big is about to happen. We have no idea what "it" is or what "it" looks like. This is Great Mystery in action. Our job is to surrender, connect with the divine cosmic energies and ride the wave!

Get ready. Get set. Let go.

Galactic Alignments 1999-2012

Celestial events have facilitated our evolution since the beginning of time, and in recent years this process has been speeding up.

We've experienced many significant planetary and star alignments throughout this period, and we highlight them in the Alignments Newsletter as we go along.

The Big Three

I consider the following to be the Big Three Cosmic Events of our passage into the next world age. Together, they are leading us across a threshold of consciousness into the heart of Creation, an experience our souls have dreamed of for a very, very long time.

1) The Grand Fixed Cross Solar Eclipse on August 11, 1999, sparked a mass spiritual awakening that continues to reverberate around the planet. Think about the changes in your life, in your family, your community and your world since that time. This was the wake-up call leading into the 2001-2002 Saturn-Pluto oppositions that reshaped our inner and outer landscapes. Remember the date of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon? September 11, 2001.

2) The historic Transit of Venus is a rare astronomical event, the passage of the planet Venus across the face of our local Sun. Venus has a very predictable, 40-year cycle, and Transits of Venus come in pairs, eight years apart. The first in this series was June 8, 2004. The second will be on June 6, 2012. The Maya are very aware of the Venus cycle, and the 2004-2012 Transit of Venus is connected to both the Mayan calendar “ending” in 2012 as well as the myth and symbolism of the great feathered serpent Quetzalcoatl.

3) In late 2006, we have the equally rare conjunction of Pluto with the Galactic Center. The first exact conjunction is coming up on December 29/30, 2006, and there will be two more passes - on July 17 and October 28, 2007. Sandwiched between the Venus Transits of the solar disc, the Pluto Passage throws open the doors for consciousness evolution on a scale we can’t even imagine from our vantage point today.

Cosmic Backdrop

So we have the Fall 2006 line-up, the 1999-2012 context, and if we back it up one more level, we have the cosmic backdrop of vast cycles ending and beginning now, in our lifetime, driving our evolutionary process.
 
The 2,160-year Piscean Age is coming to an end as we transition to the Aquarian Age. This is considered an “astrological month” as the Precession of the Equinoxes moves us backward through the 12 signs of the zodiac during the 26,000-year astrological Great Year.

Some scholars believe a 26,000-year precessional cycle is also ending, and we are entering a new astrological Great Year. In fact, John Major Jenkins makes a strong case that the December Solstice in 2012 synchs up with the end of the Mayan calendar and the end of the current precessional cycle.

The specifics of each of the cycles - exactly when they end and begin - is less important than the idea that various cycles are ending and beginning during this revolutionary period, creating an opening for the consciousness of Divine Love to manifest more fully on Earth.

The Process

This is an ending, and a new beginning. We have the potential to begin again at a higher level of consciousness, to express and manifest freely, playfully, joyously as the magnificent creators that we are.

A transformational process is underway that will carry us to this ideal state of being . . .
 
1) Activation - Successively higher frequencies of incoming cosmic energy/information/enlightened awareness awakens the Earth and humanity at the molecular level.

2) Attunement - In this phase, we proactively align with these energies on a conscious level.

3) Integration - Here we integrate the new energies on all levels of our being through conscious (and unconscious, as the case may be) practice.

4) Annihilation - As the new energies are assimilated, radical destruction takes place, destroying the beliefs, structures and forms of our lives, freeing us to experience and express expanded levels of consciousness.

5) Integration - In this phase, we experience reunification on all levels of our being at successively higher levels of consciousness.

6) Creation - We step forward as individuals and communities, reborn, empowered, energized by purpose, guided by vision, enlightened, freely manifesting the next reality we choose to create.

7) Start All Over Again - The cycle begins again, and we move on to the next level of mastery.

In this context, "enlightenment" refers to a natural process of embodying increasingly higher frequencies of light emanating from the Godhead or Source and focused into the Earth plane through many gateways including deep-space objects, stars, constellations, spiritual masters and sacred sites.

We humans tend to get stuck at Step 4, Annihilation. As a species, we just plain don't like change, especially the kind that involves destruction of everything we think we love, need and hold dear. Cycles of purification like the one we're experiencing now are designed to get us unstuck. That's where Pluto, Uranus, eclipses, the Galactic Center and Earth changes come in. Their energies give us the opportunity to align with natural cycles of creation-destruction-creation or birth-life-death-rebirth-life-death so we learn to embrace change.

We are always in process, expanding, perfecting, growing and learning. The process involves continuous change. The point is evolution. The method is creation. The fuel is love.

New Moon, New Life

Today the Sun and Moon rendezvous in the first degree of Virgo, initiating a cycle that will culminate in a New Moon Solar Eclipse, in the final degree of Virgo, just hours before the Equinox next month. A new life is born in this moment - yours.

Lunar cycles are just one of the ways nature urges us forward on our evolutionary path. A 28-day cycle begins with the New Moon, the Dark Moon representing the still, deep womb from which worlds and universes are created.

A Lunar-Solar Eclipse series in September amps up the energy of this cycle. For each of us, this is a special opportunity to begin again, to create a new, improved life.

Virgo is concerned with the details of life - hygiene, health, maintenance of the body. This is a perfect time to start a cleanse, an exercise program, a yoga or t'ai chi practice.

The body is the vehicle for your consciousness. Rapid expansion is on the way this fall and winter. Take steps now so your physical form is ready to embody higher consciousness and enjoy life even more fully.

Planetary Alignments Update

The Sun and Moon meet in Virgo to initiate a new lunar cycle that carries us through the intense Saturn-Neptune-Pluto-Eclipse-Equinox sequence over the next six weeks and beyond. This is a perfect time for major detoxification and toning. Get lots of exercise and rest. Practice yoga, t'ai chi, xi gong, meditation. Purify with sweat lodges, saunas, soaking in hot springs, bathing in sea salts. Tone with nourishing foods and supplements.

As the Buddhists would say, there's no way around the major transformation that's coming. We have to go through it. Preparation now will facilitate the passage.

Virgo New Moon - August 23 - 3:10 PM EDT; 7:10 PM GMT

Plant the seeds of a new reality with this New Moon. The wild, social, creative energy of Leo is now grounded in Virgo, whose energy calls us to more profound levels of service. Prepare now for the coming changes. Purify and energize you body. Take a class. Learn a new skill. Focus. What do you really want? Mars joins the Sun and Moon in Virgo and squares Pluto, intensifying Virgo's urge to purge. Get down to what is essential. Discern what's truly beneficial and let the rest go.

Venus Aspects . . . Conjunct Saturn - August 26; Opposed Neptune - August 27; Trine Pluto - September 1; Opposed Uranus - September 15; Square Pluto - September 25

As the Goddess Venus sashays through Leo and moves in Virgo, her dance card is full of transformational aspects with male planets. With Venus square Jupiter at the New Moon, we may be tempted to excess, but this tendency is dampened as she aligns with Saturn and opposes Neptune this weekend. Her aspects to Pluto and Uranus next month invite us to create more highly evolved relationships by boring through blockages and finding new approaches to relationships. The ways we attract financial resources may also change.

Mars Square Pluto - August 29

Warrior Mars squaring off with Pluto the Transformer isn't a particularly rare event, but this configuration comes during the build-up to Pluto's station on September 4 and the Lunar Eclipse on September 7, so it contributes to the volatile mix of energies. Both planets are in fire signs, fueling the creative process. Think passion, think purpose, think purification.

Saturn-Neptune Opposition - August 31

The approaching Saturn-Neptune opposition will be exact on August 31, and twice more in 2007. This only happens every 30 years and has broad social implications. Neptune in Aquarius dissolves Saturn in Leo's forms, rules and regulations, stimulating reformulation based on collective ideals. Jupiter in Scorpio continues to square this opposition, creating a fixed T-square with added emphasis on transformation through death and rebirth.

Pluto Stations Direct - September 4

Pluto the Transformer turned retrograde back on March 29, just hours after the Aries Solar Eclipse. After six months of cleansing primal sludge from the depths of the subconscious, he returns to forward motion three days before the Pisces Lunar Eclipse. Pluto acts as the Spiritual Plunger of the solar system, blasting through blockages so we're free to experience cosmic delicacies like the Secrets of the Universe, Multidimensional Reality Creation and Cosmic Bliss. The price we pay is a little (okay, a lot) of discomfort. We have to change, transcend addictions, release patterns of thought and behavior that have held us back. I think you'll agree it's a case of short-term pain for long-term gain. The reality is, we don’t have a choice in the matter. Pluto demands transformation on the deepest levels.
 

Sun-Uranus Opposition - September 5

A volatile Sun-Uranus opposition on September 5 helps us break through outdated, established patterns so we can glimpse the True Self and draw that radiant being more fully into expression.

Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse - September 7 - 2:42 PM EDT; 6:42 PM GMT

Eclipses are powerful Sun-Moon-Earth alignments that tug on us energetically, creating imbalances that ultimately help us clear longstanding issues and integrate at a higher level. In a Lunar Eclipse, what has been buried in the subconscious will be revealed. This goes double on this lunation, since Pluto stations direct just three days earlier and Uranus conjuncts the Moon. Sudden, intense breakthroughs are possible. Focus the energy now to maximize the potential of this eclipse, then let it go and expect the unexpected!

New Moon Solar Eclipse - September 22 - 7:45 AM EDT; 11:45 AM GMT
Autumn/Spring Equinox - September 22/23 - 12:04 PM EDT September 22; 4:04 AM GMT September 23

In August we had a New Moon in the first degree of Virgo. Now we have a New Moon the final degree of Virgo. It's also a Solar Eclipse, and it happens just hours before the Equinox alignment. This is a new beginning in a big way. Something major is completing on the 28-day lunar cycle level, on the 6-month level since the previous eclipse series in March, and on the 19-year level since the last Solar Eclipse at this degree (15 Pisces) back in 1987. The Equinox Gateway arrives hours later when the Sun enters Libra. This Equinox alignment is another powerful portal, an opportunity to begin again at a higher level.
