Ancient Sun, Star of Heaven
Bring sacred codes for Earth's ascension

Each year at this time, our Sun rises with Sirius, and we are transported to magical, mystical realms of experience, star-knowing.

Beloved Sirius - also called "Sparkling One," "Scorching One," "Sothis," "Star of Isis" and the "Dog Star" - is the brightest of the fixed stars, a leader of the heavens.

Sirius has a rich and colorful relationship with humanity and the Earth. All ancient religions and esoteric traditions have connections with this blue-white sky jewel. Sirius is the source of metaphysical knowledge and reminds us of our home among the stars.

In ancient Egypt, when the Sun and Sothis rose together each summer, the Nile flooded, bringing fertility and abundance to the valley. Sirius came to symbolize yearly renewal, cyclic death and rebirth. Many of the great valley temples are oriented toward Sirius rising in summer.

Themes of Freedom

Our Sun, representative of the Self, aligns with Sirius in early July when the Sun reaches 14 degrees Cancer. This year, the alignment will be exact on July 5/6, depending on your time zone. The effects are felt throughout the balance of the summer (or winter, in the Southern Hemisphere).

In astrology, a conjunction brings strength to the energy of both celestial bodies. Esoterically, Sirius is our Spiritual Sun and represents liberation. The Sun-Sirius conjunction evokes issues of autonomy, sovereignty and freedom.

Independence Day, the birthday of the United States, is July 4. Canada marks her independence from England on July 1. Bastille Day, the French Independence Day, is July 14. The Pueblo Revolt of 1680, when the Pueblo Indians of North America reclaimed their sovereignty from Spanish settlers, happened in early August.

Birth under this configuration is considered to be particularly auspicious. How interesting that the 14th Dalai Lama, His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, was born July 6, 1935, and U.S. President George W. Bush was born July 6, 1946. Both were born in the morning hours, when the Sun and Sirius were rising together in the eastern sky. Each man, in his own way, is contributing to humanity's understanding of what freedom means in our world.

Love-Wisdom Portal

These next few days are overflowing with creative and spiritual potential as the Sun in Cancer, conjunct with Sirius, forms a Grand Trine with Uranus and Jupiter. Our world is ripe for healing, for wholeness, for understanding and compassion brought about through love. This is an important time for prayer and meditation, for anchoring Divine Love-Wisdom in this plane and receiving the blessings of Sirius through this benevolent gateway.

In metaphysical teachings, Sirius is a divine intelligence guiding humanity's evolution. The Sun-Sirius portal facilitates our evolutionary process.

The great star of cosmic initiation, Sirius catalyzes the quest for meaning, the quest for understanding, the quest for truth. As we align with the brightest star in the heavens, we aspire to something vaster than ourselves not only to guide us, but also to infuse us with higher consciousness so that we may craft a more refined existence on planet Earth.

And so it is.

Planetary Alignments Update

Jupiter and Mercury change direction this week as the Sun aligns with Sirius. Mercury moving in reverse slows things down for three weeks, giving us time to revise and rethink. The waxing Moon fuels creativity and inspiration. Focus on completing projects and taking care of old business. Enjoy the journey!

The great star Sirius activates a Grand Trine in water signs - Sun in Cancer, Jupiter in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces. Jupiter returns to forward motion after a four-month retrograde period that began back on March 4. That was just before a major eclipse series reshaped our thoughts and perceptions.
