Feeling a little edgy? It’s a tense time with the energy building toward two eclipses and Pluto dancing closer and closer to the Galactic Center.

Talk about a wake-up call. Eclipses and Pluto don’t mess around. Both bring the opportunity for deep, lasting transformation through death and rebirth. What’s dying away in your life to make way for the new?

The Virgo Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is Tuesday, March 14. Whether or not you live in an area where the eclipse will be visible, you’ll feel the energy. There’s a layering effect with the Lunar Eclipse on March 14, the Spring Equinox on March 20, the Solar Eclipse on March 29 and Pluto’s approach to the center of our galaxy. Individually and collectively, we’re called to change on fundamental levels.

With the Lunar Eclipse, we explore the Virgo-Pisces axis. The Sun in Pisces is deeply spiritual, contemplative. The Moon eclipsed in Virgo illuminates unresolved emotional issues. Pluto squares both the Sun and Moon, demanding physical, mental, emotional and spiritual transformation. Pluto is the relentless excavator, digging deep into our psyches to release clutter and debris. As he approaches the degree of the Galactic Center at 26’55” Sagittarius, the changes go quantum. This eclipse also involves Mercury retrograde squaring Pluto. Be wary of misunderstandings, emotional outbursts, accidents and injuries.

These tense aspects create an energetic pressure cooker. In general, eclipses are associated with Earth changes and human violence as deep-seated issues surface for clearing. Transiting Pluto’s square to the eclipse multiplies the effects.

To bring peace to this process, please consider joining together with others around the world in meditation, prayer and healing for the Earth and all beings at the time of the eclipse in your time zone, and again at the Spring Equinox and March 29 Solar Eclipse.

The Sun enters Aries at the Vernal Equinox on March 20. With the Moon Square Uranus plus the Sun, Moon and Saturn forming a Grand Trine in fire signs, our passions and tempers may be ignited.

The New Moon in Aries on March 29 is the beginning of the astrological new year. The Sun will be eclipsed this time, supercharging this energetic portal. Mercury has resumed forward motion, and the light turns green for plans and projects. Yet Pluto stations retrograde within hours of this eclipse and begins to travel back through Sagittarius, extending his dance with the Galactic Center. During this retrograde transit he’ll help us clear any remaining debris from the subconscious and align with our cosmic identity and destiny. Mars in Gemini opposes Pluto in Sagittarius, further fueling the flames of passion and healing old wounds.

The portal of transformation through the end of this month invites us to explore the depths of our individual and collective psyche, release old patterns that no longer serve us, and move forward into a brighter future. This is the promise of the shift of consciousness taking place on Planet Earth. We’re experiencing a frequency shift as we and the Earth step up in vibration and enter the Aquarian Age, the World of the Fifth Sun.

No one said the changes would be comfortable. This is a time for retreat, reflection, prayer, meditation and healing, to allow the process to unfold gracefully.

Eclipse-Equinox Specifics

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo – March 14 – 4:21-9:13 PM EST; 9:21 PM-2:13 AM GMT March 14/15

This penumbral Lunar Eclipse is best visible from Europe and Africa. Observers throughout most of North America will find the eclipse already in progress as the Moon rises on the evening of March 14. No eclipse will be visible from westernmost North America (Yukon, British Columbia, Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California) since the event ends there before moonrise.

Vernal Equinox – March 20 – 1:26 PM EST; 6:26 GMT

The equinoxes and solstices are balancing points of the solar year. Solstices are the longest and shortest days of the year. On the equinoxes, day and night are of equal length. This is a stillpoint, an opening to the depths of our being, an expanded opportunity to heal and grow.

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries – March 29 – 2:36-7:45 AM EST; 7:36 AM-12:45 PM GMT

The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries signals a new beginning at a higher level. This total eclipse of the Sun will be visible from within a narrow band traversing half the Earth. The path of the Moon's shadow begins in Brazil and extends across the Atlantic, northern Africa and central Asia, where it ends at sunset in western Mongolia. A partial eclipse will be seen within the much broader path of the Moon's penumbral shadow, which includes the northern two-thirds of Africa, Europe and central Asia. With Solar Eclipses, the path of totality – where the moon casts a shadow during the eclipse – will be prone to extreme weather events, seismic activity, political turmoil, wars and other acts of violence by individuals and groups for the next six to 12 months.

This eclipse-equinox-Pluto period is helping to release long-standing thoughtforms and beliefs that have kept you from manifesting your highest expression. It can happen in the wink of an eye…if you’ll allow it.

A miracle is the sudden manifestation of a reality the rational mind didn’t believe was possible. Rather than struggle against the changes sweeping through your life, align with the incoming energies and ride the crest of the wave.

Navigating Eclipse Energies

It’s no mistake that your soul incarnated at this time. You came to experience planetary transformation first-hand and assist in the awakening of higher consciousness.

During eclipse periods, the experience intensifies.

The Earth’s electromagnetic field shifts during eclipse periods. If you’re sensitive to these energies you may experience physical symptoms before, during and after the eclipses.

Headaches, dizziness or light-headedness, confusion, nausea, changes in sleep or eating patterns, bouts of depression, accidents, injuries and emotional outbursts are common. Life may seem out of balance or out of control as you integrate and find your new center.

To ease the transition…

- Get plenty of exercise, especially activities that connect you with the Earth like walking, running, hiking and swimming. Hydrate the body thoroughly every day.

- Eat root vegetables and dark, leafy greens. Sit under a tree, on the roots. Sleep on the Earth, under the stars. Practice yoga, pilates, sacred dance, xi gong or t’ai chi. Work in the garden.

- Meditate often and sleep when needed. Receive energy and/or bodywork, including Reiki, massage, cranio-sacral therapy, sound healing, aromatherapy and acupuncture.

- Consider a retreat, even if it’s only a day, and preferably in nature.

- Participate in group or individual ceremony to honor these important passages as the Sun, Moon and Earth align. Take the time to observe these moments of grace as an expansion of the Divine in your life. Enjoy the eclipse passage at a sacred site.

- Journal information that comes in dreams and meditation. Work with affirmations and intentions about how you choose to be, grow and transform during this period. Intention work is especially powerful during eclipse alignment periods, and in combination with ceremony and ritual, to create quantum shifts.

- The shifting energies caused by the eclipses are also known to catalyze extreme weather events and seismic activity. Ceremony for the healing of Mother Earth and all beings helps to bring peace to the planet in changing times.
