Planetary Alignments Update
New Moon in Capricorn - December 30/31 - 10:12 p.m. EST December 30; 3:12 a.m. GMT December 31
Venus Retrograde into Capricorn - January 1
As 2005 comes to a close, we celebrate endings and new beginnings. Our passage into the new year is marked by a second New Moon this month. In Capricorn, this is an excellent opportunity to bring old business to completion and set intentions and goals for the new year.
Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, reminds us that all of our actions and choices have consequences. You may be feeling more in tune with the “practical realities” of life at the turn of the year.
As Venus, now retrograde, moves from Aquarius back into Capricorn on January 1, the practical aspects of relationships and finances are up for review.
Where are your boundaries in relationship? Which relationships are best for you? Which ones need to be transformed, or dissolved?
How do your finances reflect past choices? Are your sources of income changing? Are you reaping the benefit of years of hard work?
As we end a solar and lunar cycle this weekend, take time to reflect on your accomplishments. Allow your heart to be filled with gratitude and love. Invite a new vision, a higher idea for your life, in the coming cycle. Dream big. Then set the intentions and goals that will carry you there!
New Moon, New Year
In 2005, we have a “bonus” New Moon at the end of the year.
On December 30/31, the Sun and Moon meet in Capricorn as the solar year comes to a close.
Each solar cycle brings either 13 New Moons or 13 Full Moons. The 13th New Moon creates two New Moons in a month, called a Secret Moon, Spinner’s Moon or Black Moon. This one, so close to the turn of the calendar year, is especially potent for new beginnings.
The Sun and Moon conjunct in Capricorn mean business. The number 13 tells us magic is afoot. Focus your intent and notice how quickly your goals manifest!
Invoke the discernment of Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, to take stock of your life and make plans for the future. What’s working well? What needs to be changed? The Capricorn New Moon will boost your intentions as the end of a lunar and solar cycle coincide.
Each New Moon is a time of new beginnings - like the Maiden form of the Goddess and the season of Spring. Coupled with the traditional “new beginning” of the New Year, you can ride the vibes of high energy, rejuvenation, growth and renewal.
Make those overdue changes in your life. End habits or relationships that no longer serve you. Create new patterns centered in love, courage and divine service.

Grand Fixed Cross: Alignment and Integration

Like the cross-hairs on a periscope, the Grand Fixed Cross helps us align and integrate with the Soul.
The Grand Cross in the fixed signs of Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius indicates a long phase of evolution leading to the integration of the Soul and Personality, the alignment of Essence and Ego.
The Grand Cross pattern is seen repeatedly in the symbolism of spiritual traditions around the world. It is the cross of Melchizedek in esoteric traditions, Quetzalcoatal in Meso-American traditions, Padmasambhava in Eastern traditions. This cross represents the Cosmic Christ, the Path of the Heart, the Union of Heaven and Earth.
Collectively, we’re influenced nearly continuously through in 2005 and 2006 with planets forming this aspect pattern.
At the Capricorn New Moon on December 30/31, the Grand Cross is formed by Neptune in Aquarius opposing Saturn in Leo, both square to the opposition of Jupiter in Scorpio and Mars in Taurus. You couldn’t ask for a more powerful line-up of celestial energies to help us integrate the lessons of the Fixed Cross.
Fixed signs are rigid, slow to change. In their positive expression, they send a message from the Soul about those things we hold most dear - our deepest passions, our highest values, our purpose and destiny in this life.
The specific planetary placements in this Grand Cross clue us in to the opportunities presented by the alignment.
Neptune in Aquarius activates our highest spiritual and humanitarian ideals. Saturn in Leo sparks our creativity and challenges us to take up the mantle of leadership.
