This is the way of all life. The Scorpio New Moon coincides with the Sabbat of Samhain this year, creating a unique and meaningful opportunity. Collectively, we’ve sustained purification through water, wind and Earth this autumn. Now, as winter’s chill begins to encroach, we prepare for a final death, and a new beginning. Scorpio and Samhain remind us that through death we are reborn into new life. These final hours of the solar year are a time of completion, endings, letting go. A new calendar month, a new lunar cycle and a new solar cycle emerge simultaneously at the New Moon on November 1. Also this week, Hindus celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Light, a reminder that through the realm of human experiences we purify and perfect our souls as we become ready to embody Divine Love, Divine Light, more fully. Samhain marks the mid-point between the Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice. In the Northern Hemisphere, the harvest has been gathered. We delight in the rich tapestry of autumn as fallen leaves submit beneath our feet. We gather ourselves in. Life slows. The waning lunar and solar cycles entwine like snakes as the Moon moves to join the Sun in Scorpio less than 24 hours after the advent of Samhain. The Samhain-Scorpio New Moon gateway begins October 31. The overnight period from October 31 to November 1 is traditional Samhain, rechristened Halloween or All Hallow’s Eve in some cultures. The zodiacal date is November 6, and the energies are at a peak throughout this period. Samhain is one of four “cross-quarters” of the solar year. The cross-quarters are special Sun-Earth-Moon alignments called Greater Sabbats, even more powerful than the Lesser Sabbats of the solstices and equinoxes. Samhain is the traditional new year in Celtic and other pagan traditions. It signals the completion of a solar cycle and ushers in a new year. In the dim twilight between the two cycles, contact with other realms is enhanced. Departed loved ones are honored, and we receive their blessings, and often messages, from beyond. At the same time, the Moon joins the Sun in Scorpio on November 1, creating with the Samhain energies a powerful gateway of rebirth. Our sisters and brothers in the Southern Hemisphere experience the regeneration of life through the springtime Sabbat of Beltane. In recent weeks, we and the Earth have come through a time of great purification by water, wind and Earth. The changes are far from over, yet we have completed a significant cycle. What has died? Thoughts. Beliefs. Ego. Emotions that no longer serve us. We are being reborn into Love - the all-consuming force, the central truth of the cosmos. Love. Like the eclipses we experienced in October, the solstices, equinoxes and cross-quarters are portals of consciousness that increase the probability for quantum change through our focused awareness, Our prayers and intentions carry extra power at this time, especially when combined with ritual. Prayers of release, renewal and healing are especially appropriate during this time. We begin to sow the seeds of new intentions that will manifest in the coming cycle, and beyond, as we grow in consciousness. Hurricanes, floods and earthquakes are physical manifestations of global and inner changes that will continue over the next seven years, and beyond. As the Sun transits Scorpio, we’re assimilating the vibrations of death and rebirth that grip our world. Each day, we face the changes we have attracted to ourselves in our never-ending process of evolution. At the Samhain-New Moon gateway, we say goodbye to outdated paradigms, illusions we thought were real, and begin anew at a higher level of consciousness. Jupiter aligns with the Moon and Sun at this lunation, expanding our awareness and understanding. There are three symbols for Scorpio. The scorpion’s sting brings death. The phoenix, rising from its own ashes, symbolizes resurrection. The eagle soars in freedom and truth, no longer encumbered by the bonds of the physical world. How are we embodying these principles as the circumstances of our daily lives reflect them back to us? Which symbols are most appropriate? Are we open to heal emotionally, through the grief and loss associated with death? How fluidly do we accept change? Do we trust in the promise of life’s renewal? The cycle of life reminds us that creation involves destruction. The old is cleared to make way for the new. What has been destroyed around us symbolizes what is transforming within in the ongoing process of birth, death and renewal that is life. How we respond to change reflects our level of consciousness. If we’re resisting, we might notice symptoms of depression, anxiety or illness. We might need more sleep or food, or less, than normal. We might become unusually emotional, crying uncontrollably or bursting into fits of rage. We may attract accidents and injuries. These are natural human responses to the perceived loss of control we have over our lives during times of great change. There are many techniques to facilitate transformation during periods of peak intensity. Meditation and relaxation are high on the list. Conscious breathwork, journaling and holistic healing help us integrate the transformational energies. Most of them died. Strandings like this happen from time to time in coastal areas on many continents. They can be caused by seismic activity, extreme weather conditions and shifts in the Earth’s electromagnetic fields like those we’ve experienced during the recent Earth changes. These highly evolved mammals navigate by sensing magnetic energies and through an inner guidance system similar to sonar. The Earth’s shifting electromagnetics can cause disorientation and distress among our cetacean friends. Like the whales and dolphins, Lightworkers are extremely sensitive, susceptible to fluctuations in the Earth’s electromagnetic grid. Many are reporting dizziness, disorientation, lack of mental clarity or focus, confusion, emotional shifts, changes in eating patterns, even an inability to meditate effectively. Sometimes you just have to lie down and sleep. Physical tasks take longer to accomplish than usual. Although they may seem distracting, these “symptoms” actually mean we’re moving to a higher level of consciousness. You can ease the transition in various ways… - Increase the amount of time you spend in meditation each day. The more hectic the outer world and energies become, the more important it is to meditate. You may find it difficult to quiet the mind, connect with Source and remain in a receptive space, but the practice will be helpful to you, and it will assist in the Earth’s transformational process. - In meditation and throughout the day, request the assistance of Spirit, your guides, teachers, angels and others in the ascended realms to send energy and guidance through the intense transitional periods. - Follow your body’s cues about the amount of sleep you need, as well as the amount and types of food. - Facilitate emotional release with body and energy work, crystal therapy, aromatherapy and flower essences. - Remember all the Earth’s creatures in prayer and ceremony. They are experiencing and facilitating the Earth’s transition, as we are. The changes are beginning and will intensify in coming months and years.
