Enjoy the journey! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cancer New Moon -- Nurturing and Creativity As the Sun and Moon align in Cancer, we begin a new cycle of growth and manifestation seeded by the desires of the soul. The spiritual becomes the material. Cancer represents the Mother, the divine feminine whose breast offers nourishment and sustenance to her creation. At the New Moon, this essence ripens within us. We experience the succulence and diversity of all life as Divine Mother, creatrix and cultivator. A water sign, Cancer urges us to delve into our inner depths to express our intuitive and healing abilities. Which gifts are you seeking to develop? Clairvoyance? Channeling? Hands-on healing? This New Moon is the time to manifest your talents. Lunar cycles fuel our inner growth and outer manifestation process. What have you changed in your life since the Sun entered Cancer at the Summer Solstice two weeks ago? Mars squares this New Moon and opposes Jupiter, so our hidden passions are surfacing. In just a few days, on July 11, the Sun squares the degree of the April 8 eclipse, urging us to move forward with ideas and plans we put into motion back then. These are the elements of Saturn. Saturn is the Reaper, mythical god of the harvest. As we sow, so shall we reap. Astrologer Susan Miller compares Saturn to a personal trainer who pushes us relentlessly toward our goals. Like a strenuous workout, lessons associated with Saturn are not always pleasant, but they get the job done and help us attain new heights. Taskmaster Saturn changes signs every two years. His transit of Cancer is coming to an end as he journeys into the fire sign of Leo on July 16. Through Saturn’s two-year transit of Cancer, we’ve learned where our emotions have been holding us back. We’ve cleared the hurdles of self-limitation. On a global level, we experienced an intense period of purification by water, most memorably with the tsunami in Indonesia last year. A new day is dawning as Saturn enters Leo. Leo, the lion, is associated with the solar, active, male creative force. In ancient Egypt, he is the mystical Sphinx. In Tarot, he is the actualized, fully empowered Self. During Saturn’s transit of Leo, which extends through September 2, 2007, we will learn to step into our power, to understand the consequences of our actions, to assume the mantle of leadership intended for our lives. All great leaders serve with courage, compassion and conviction. These are qualities to be developed during this transit. On a global scale, we may see continued Earth changes involving fire, as North America and other parts of the world are experiencing right now. How will Saturn’s transit of Leo empower you? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mercury Retrograde -- A Time of Completion Three times each year, for about three weeks each time, the planet Mercury appears to turn and travel backward in the sky from our vantage point on Earth. Transiting the sign of Leo, Mercury stations on July 22 and remains retrograde until August 15. Mercury is the mythic messenger associated with Hermes. He rules communication, transportation, and things technological and mechanical. Traditional wisdom tells us to pay closer attention to communication and schedules during this time, re-confirming appointments and travel arrangements, repeating and clarifying instructions and other messages. Glitches with computers, phones, cars and other vehicles are common. It’s a good idea to have your computer or car serviced before the onset of the retrograde period to minimize the probability of breakdowns. When Mercury moves in reverse, it’s time to finish old business, review and revise our goals and intentions. In Leo, we might focus especially on issues that are blocking the fullest expression of our highest Self. What do we need to complete during this cycle? Which relationships need to be rekindled, or reconfigured? Humor and patience can go a long way toward making Mercury retrograde periods more tolerable. When the glitches pop up, smile with the wisdom of understanding….and breathe. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Capricorn Full Moon -- An Intuitive Playground This second consecutive Full Moon on the Capricorn-Cancer axis illuminates our deepest inner knowing and calls us to own our spiritual and material gifts. The symbol for this lunation is a woman reading tea leaves. How appropriate as we further refine the intuitive and creative gifts brought forth at the Cancer New Moon. Mars squares this Full Moon as it did in June, asking us to follow our passions as we redirect in areas of our life that need to be changed. A grand trine in fire signs further fuels our passions. Venus in Leo, Pluto in Sagittarius and Mars in Aries form a vortex of creative energy that prods us toward adventure and romance. Saturn has just entered Leo on July 16, and at this lunation moves to conjoin the Sun. The conjunction will be exact on July 23. Saturn’s alignment with the Sun allows us to see more clearly the effects of our thoughts and our actions, and to redefine the Self in alignment with the soul rather than ego. A week after the Full Moon, the transiting Sun will square the degree of the powerful April 24 Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio-Taurus. Issues brought to light at that time will be activated again in late July. We’ll find out if we’re on track with changes we set into motion in late April. An appropriate ritual for this Full Moon would focus on trusting your intuition. Under the luminous glow of the waxing moon, light a candle, center, relax and meditate. Tune in to your inner voice by focusing on the heart chakra. Write any message that surfaces from within. Through this practice, you’ll discover new possibilities your soul would like you to explore.
