In the depths of the Earth womb, beneath snow and ice, natural cycles of creation are silently at work. New life is gestating. Rebirth is at hand. The ancient Sabbat of Imbolc marks the turning point from winter toward spring. The days begin to grow noticeably longer, and signs of spring begin to emerge from the ground. We will still face bouts of winter, yet we notice the promise of rebirth and renewal in our environment. Traditionally, the date of Imbolc is February 2. The festival was Christianized as Candlemas, when the candles to be used in the Catholic Church in the coming year are blessed. In America, February 2 is Groundhog Day. The groundhog tells us when spring will come, based on whether he sees his shadow. In contemporary times, Imbolc falls on February 4, the astronomical midway point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. Imbolc is one of the four “cross-quarters” of the year known as Greater Sabbats because they are considered in ancient tradition to be the most powerful Sun-Earth alignments of the solar year. The better-known solstices and equinoxes are the Lesser Sabbats. “Imbolc” means “in the belly.” In Celtic tradition, this Sabbat is the festival of the Goddess Brighid, who relates to the Corn Maiden in Native American tradition. Both goddesses represent the potential of new life within the Earth, within the human female form, and within the feminine aspect of all beings, male and female. Imbolc reminds us of our powers of creation. In today’s culture, it’s easy to lose touch with the cycles of our natural environment. We tend to live by mechanized calendars and digital clocks. Ancient traditions have much to teach us about ourselves and how we relate to our planet. They also connect us to the stars. The cosmos itself is an enormous calendar marking not so much the passage of time, but of cycles. The cycles are of growth and evolution. Here, at the gateway of a new season, we have the opportunity to integrate profound changes within ourselves. We are transforming, growing, evolving. As we evolve, we radiate more love into our world. When we understand and welcome this opportunity, we participate consciously with our own soul evolution, the enlightenment of humanity and the transformation of our planet. Recent planetary alignments like the Harmonic Concordance I & II and the Transit of Venus initiated us into the heights of human possibility. In late December, we were reminded just how fragile and precious is each human life. Through this transformational process, we have been facing those aspects of ourselves not in alignment with our highest, most divine expression. The Earth is undergoing her own process of transformation. Imbolc is a welcome turning point toward longer days with more warmth and light as we release old forms and create anew. The promise of hope and renewal lies within us. In the Imbolc tradition, we might light a candle and commune with the Goddess at this sacred time to honor the transformation and prepare for the more external activities of spring. ******* To learn more about the Sabbats, visit: http://www.starcraftsob.com/craft/sabbattiming.shtml +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Tsunami Awakening +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In Mary Gray’s “Gateway of Liberation,” “sacrifice” is defined as “making sacred every aspect of one’s life.” The 9.0 earthquake in Indonesia in late December was so powerful it created a tsunami whose death toll continues to climb toward 200,000. The souls who departed left behind a glorious gift for those still incarnated in the Earth plane -- the opportunity for accelerated creation, manifestation and soul evolution. Gratitude fills our hearts for their sacrifice. Energetically, the Earth shift of late December tore open the fabric of third-dimensional reality and awakened humanity to new possibilities for manifestation-creation on a broader scale than ever before. We’re adjusting now to the new electromagnetics and higher frequency that will sustain our expanded manifestation abilities. As we approach the end date of the Mayan calendar in 2012, the evolution of consciousness is accelerating. Mastery of the spiritual and material realms is within reach. Within the next five to seven years, what we think will become so -- instantly. Welcome to quantum reality. In the meantime, the Earth, humanity, nations and individuals will continue to undergo massive transformation as outdated paradigms are replaced with fresh patterns of hope, service, healing, love, peace and enlightenment. Since the earthquake, most Lightworkers have been experiencing physical and spiritual “symptoms” as we adjust to the Earth’s changed electromagnetic grid. Physical symptoms include disorientation, dizziness, nausea, and disruption of “normal” sleep patterns. Spiritually, many are feeling called to healing work, finding their life purpose and/or contributing more significantly to the transformational process now at hand. We’re in the midst of an intense period of transformation as Pluto moves to align with the galactic center in 2006-2007. Earth changes of this magnitude are just beginning. It’s especially important for those who are sensitive to the Earth energies to adopt daily practices to integrate and assist with the purification process. This benefits us personally and collectively, and facilitates the Earth’s transition to a higher frequency. Activities that will help in the transition include daily meditation, hiking, running, walking, yoga, martial arts, painting, spinning, weaving, sculpting, gardening, laughing, playing, drumming, dance, chanting and other devotional and creative practices. It’s also important to replace negative inner dialogue with positive statements and affirmations. Remember that we’re releasing the vestiges of outdated programming from our bodies and cells, so diet, nutrition and exercise are vital. Eat lots of high-frequency foods -- live sprouts and green, leafy vegetables are highest. Drink at least a gallon of purified water every day. Try a supported cleanse this spring. Detoxify daily. All forms of bodywork and energy healing will also help release toxins and purify the body. Select modalities and practitioners you resonate with, and trust in your own higher power to facilitate needed changes within your body, mind and energy field. The Earth and Sun align at the Sabbat of Imbolc on February 2, creating a gateway of greater manifestation and growth in the solar cycle. Then we begin a new lunar cycle as the Earth and Moon align for a powerful Aquarian New Moon on February 8. Use the energies of early February to manifest your heart’s desires. Enjoy the journey! Jupiter Stations Retrograde -- February 1 Relative to our vantage point on Earth, the planet of expansion turns retrograde and moves “backward” from February 1 until early June. Retrograde periods of any planet signal a time to turn inward and be more reflective. In Libra, Jupiter calls us to seek our inner truth in terms of relationships, love, beauty and art, as well as higher learning. Growth and expansion in these areas will likely be on the inner planes during this time, rather than in the external world. Imbolc -- February 2 (traditional); February 4 (zodiacal) In pagan traditions, the Sabbat of Imbolc signals the coming of Spring from deep within the belly of the Mother Earth Goddess. This Sun-Earth alignment -- the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox -- fuels our projects, passion and purpose. Now is the time to revise intentions set at the Winter Solstice as the new energies of springtime thrust us forward in growth and soul evolution. Venus into Aquarius -- February 2 The planet of love leaves the sign of Capricorn and enters the experimental, and experiential, realm of Aquarius on February 2. If we open our minds, and hearts, to the delights of “new and different,” our attitudes about relationships, values and styles may be renovated for the good. Try something new and unusual, funky and fun during this transit! New Moon in Aquarius -- February 8 5:29 p.m. EST; 10:29 p.m. GMT This New Moon is filled with hope and idealism in the humanitarian sign of Aquarius. Five planets -- the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Neptune and Venus -- all line up in Aquarius, inviting us to envision a brighter future individually and collectively. A Sun-Moon trine with Jupiter brings expansion of awareness, and a sextile with Pluto adds passion to the aloof Aquarian mix. Aquarius is the rebel, the revolutionary, the visionary and the nonconformist. Dare to dream big at this New Moon and put your plans into action. Create your own destiny! Sun into Pisces -- February 18 As the Sun moves from the mental arena of Aquarius to the emotional realm of Pisces, we may find ourselves feeling more deeply, knowing more intuitively, and caring more compassionately. Pisces is the final sign of the Zodiac and represents a spiritual culmination. Pisces connects us to the collective so we may experience the unity of all being. The Sun’s transit of Pisces is a time for dreaming, healing and connecting with Source and with each other. Full Moon in Virgo-Pisces -- February 23 11:54 p.m. EST; February 24 4:54 a.m. GMT At this Full Moon, we explore the polarity of practical, detail-oriented Virgo and dreamy, intuitive Pisces. Notice the relationship between the material and spiritual worlds, how they are actually one and the same. Full Moons illuminate what has been held in the unconscious. With Uranus conjunct the Sun and opposing the Moon, attitudes and beliefs that no longer serve us are ripe for release so what we truly love and believe may emerge from within. As the Moon waxes to full, direct the lunar energies to manifest and create the dreams initiated at the Aquarius New Moon.
