As we glimpse voluptuous Venus, bejeweled and beguiling, we view our selves in her role. Confident, sensual, self-assured. The feminine embodiment of Divine Love, Venus takes center stage. The script for this evocative scene has yet to be written. Venus stands alone. Our gaze penetrates the depths of this ancient, rising star, anticipating the jewels of wisdom about to pour forth from her heart. She speaks. I am Venus Aphrodite Ishtar Inanna Goddess of the Night Sky Preceptor of the Human Heart Enter the portal of my loving embrace Transcend your fear Let go of longing Abandon loneliness Discover your Divine Self, your true nature, your soul through me We shall journey together, among the stars to a place we know of as “home” Remember… Remember… We are One We are Love Cosmic backdrop In this time the Hopi call the Great Purification, we are undergoing massive changes both individually and collectively. During our lifetime, vast cycles of time are ending and new ones beginning, basically all at once. We are awakening to a Golden Age of peace and enlightenment unprecedented on Earth. Special planetary alignments facilitate this transformation. The Harmonic Convergence in 1987 marked the beginning of a 25-year period leading to the ending of the Mayan calendar in 2012. This is when the Maya say we will enter a new cycle they call the World of the Fifth Sun. The prophecies of indigenous people around the world, as well as ancient wisdom texts, concur that we live at the time of a major shift of consciousness as humanity reawakens to Aquarian ideals of love, peace, prosperity and humanitarian service. Throughout this transition period, star alignments signify the types of changes that are moving us forward in the evolution of consciousness. These include a rare Solar Eclipse/Grand Fixed Cross alignment on August 11, 1999; three Saturn-Pluto direct oppositions in 2001 and 2002; and the Harmonic Concordance Lunar Eclipse on November 8, 2003. Most recently, a Lunar Eclipse on the Wesak Full Moon took place on May 4, 2004. This was the culmination of an important cycle and catapulted many into expanded states of awareness and higher consciousness. Each of these special planetary configurations is a moment of grace, a gateway to interdimensional awareness, a time when the soul is exposed and ripe for contact. They are moments when we may awaken and align with our life purpose more fully. Awakening Through the beauty and symmetry of the Divine Plan, we are in the midst of yet another transformational experience, an opportunity to open our hearts and know ourselves even more deeply. This is the Transit of Venus. The planet of Love will align directly between the Earth and the Sun in early June, opening us to the radiance of our own hearts and transforming us through the power of Love. The process is already in motion. The Transit of Venus is a rare and powerful alignment when Venus, from certain parts of the world, will appear to make a circuit in front of the disk of the Sun. Venus transits usually occur in pairs. This pair will occur on June 8, 2004, and June 6, 2012. The resonance with the generally accepted Mayan Calendar “end date” is inescapable. Astronomers and spiritual seekers around the world will flock to places where the transit will be visible. Venus gatherings are being organized in many parts of the world. One group is hosting a conference and ceremony in India during the transit featuring the work of Mayan Calendar scholar Carl Johan Calleman. Calleman associates this Transit of Venus cycle -- which he calls Passages of Venus -- with the Meso-American prophecies of Quetzlcoatal, the feathered serpent. Quetzlcoatal is another symbol of the Christ Consciousness or Buddha Nature that is awakening in the Earth plane as humanity and the planet transform to our naturally sacred and divine state. Venus ideals Before taking the stage in our continuing drama, Venus has shown us her star quality through a courageous warm-up dance with Sir Pluto (a direct opposition on May 2, with two more coming up, on June 2 and July 25) and a retreat into retrograde motion from May 17 through June 29. This divine orchestration ensures the lessons of Venus will not be lost at this special time! We may view 2004 to 2012 as an eight-year opportunity to fully embody this transformation. Venus is the mythic goddess of love and finances, so this transit has deep meaning for us in both the emotional and material realms. Her retrograde motion from May 17 to June 29 emphasizes the importance of evaluating our beliefs and values, discarding what no longer serves, and preparing to create a new paradigm where love and finances reflect our divine, spiritual nature. As we said, the plot in this drama has yet to be scripted. Our relationships -- and what we believe about relationships -- will be recast and rewritten. While Venus specializes in Eros (or erotic love), all relationships will be affected. It’s a good idea to keep a journal to record thoughts, impressions, dreams and circumstances during this time to gain clarity on the changes taking place deep within. Venus is also known as the Goddess of Beauty. She inspires art, music, literature and dance. We may notice the finer aspects of life attracting us these days. Venus may help us uncover hidden creative passions, or at least expand our appreciation of art as well as romance. Notice the transformational effects in the realm of finances these days - individually, in our communities and in world markets. Purification is at hand. The shift is underway. Magnetic attraction Venus teaches us about the feminine principle of attracting what we need as we fulfill our life purpose. Mars, on the other hand, teaches the male ideal of pursuing what we want. Both tactics have merit, in proper proportion and timing. By aligning with Venus, we will understand better which methods to use, and when. Love and purpose will guide us. We will learn to balance the masculine and feminine. We will rise to higher consciousness as integrated beings with greater awareness and understanding of the nature of Love. We will also learn more about the feminine principles of receptivity, creation from within, and intuitive awareness. Venus teaches about divine timing, when to act, and when to be in repose so the universal flow of creation may move through us. Goddess as portal In Eastern traditions, the Dakini Goddess embodies the principles of divine union and transformation through Love. The Dakini herself acts as the portal through which the male and female aspects may achieve unity in form. Tantric practice is centered in the heart space. The Transit of Venus reminds us that we may merge with the Divine through the portal of Love, the human heart. This is the domain of Venus. The heart is also the gateway to the soul. Contact with the soul requires an open heart, and we have the opportunity to clear the heart space during this eight-year window between the Venus transits. There’s no better time than the present, and we have all the support we need from the Universe! Venus ritual The Transit of Venus is a six-hour process that will be visible from most of Asia, Africa, Europe, Greenland and the Indian Ocean. The duration of the transit makes it a challenge to coordinate synchronized meditation and ceremony around the world to honor this historic alignment. In those areas where the “eclipse” can be seen, many will gather to observe and honor the transit. In North America, where many of our readers live, the Sun will rise on June 8 just after Venus completes her dance. Deborah Knighton Tallarico, a spiritual guide and counselor in Portland, Maine, suggests a personal evening ritual on Monday, June 7, to attune individually with the energy and transformative power of the overnight transit, followed by a sunrise ceremony on Tuesday, June 8. Individually, or in groups, we might greet the Sun at dawn on the first day of the eight-year Venus transit cycle, energized by the hope and promise of this new beginning. Imagine a “wave” flowing across the country on June 8 as enlightened beings greet the new dawn from our home locations, just as the Venus transit concludes, We might honor the Goddess with soft drumming, chanting and sacred movement as the Sun rises. Solar rays The Sun is the other major player in our cosmic drama. During the Venus alignments, his solar rays will reach the Earth through the “lens” of Venus, amplifying her influences, teachings and dreams for all who dwell here. He shines his magnificent light to illuminate and transcend, even as Venus and Pluto transport us to the core of the human heart. It is our nature to know, to be enlightened, in this next phase of the journey. As we learn, we will co-create a new paradigm of love and relationship, finances, art and the higher aspirations of the human heart. As conscious beings, we will write the script together. The drama will unfold over the next eight years. When the curtain falls, we will stand resplendent, victorious, courageous -- just as the shining star Venus does now. -------------------------------------------------------------- Venus-Pluto and the Transformation of Love -------------------------------------------------------------- Pluto opposed Venus causes us to delve deep into our psyches to purify our beliefs about love, relationship and romance. Pluto is the “spiritual plunger” of the solar system. During the period of the three current oppositions -- May 2, June 2 and July 25 -- our beliefs and ideals will be challenged and changed in the areas Venus influences. Long-seated beliefs -- especially those that limit our ability to embody the unconditional love of Christ Consciousness -- will be flushed out. We learned through the Saturn-Pluto direct oppositions of 2001 and 2002 just how relentless Pluto can be in his mission to transform. The September 11 attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., occurred between the first two Saturn-Pluto oppositions in August and November 2001. In addition to the historic Transit of Venus, we celebrate the annual Summer Solstice this month. Meanwhile, Pluto supercharges our evolution with direct oppositions to Venus, the Sun and Mercury, culminating in a volatile New Moon in Gemini on June 17. Near the end of the month, Venus returns to direct motion after her retrograde dance with Pluto and the Sun, heightening our intuitive awareness and transforming our notions of love. We might approach this month of solar celebration with optimism balanced with inner awareness and contemplation of what it means to live, love and serve during these transitional times. Venus-Pluto Opposition -- June 2 -- 9:29 p.m. EST This is the second of three direct oppositions between the Goddess of Love and the God of the Underworld. The first was on May 2. The third will be July 25. Their dance helps us scrutinize and, where necessary, refashion our ideas about love, beauty, relationship and finances. Death and rebirth are the terrain of Pluto. During this time, we are learning where we need to let go of concepts, wounds and illusions that no longer serve us so we may be reborn to updated ideals. Pluto’s transformational force will continue to be felt throughout the month as he also opposes the Sun, Moon and Mercury. Full Moon in Sagittarius-Gemini -- June 2-3 -- 12:20 a.m. EST June 3 The Moon waxes full just three hours after the direct opposition of Venus and Pluto, and additional aspects make this another powerful Full Moon alignment. The Sun, Moon, Uranus and Jupiter form a Grand Cross in mutable signs (Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces and Virgo). Mutable signs are malleable, shifting. We are integrating massive changes. During this transitional period, we may find ourselves evolving and growing in ways we never would have guessed. Gemini is the sign of information and communication. Sagittarius is high-minded and truth-seeking. Pisces asks us to invite intuitive input, while Virgo keeps us grounded and clear. We may find our relationship with our inner selves and higher truth to be shifting significantly, which will also be reflected in our relationships with others and our world. This is the stuff of planetary transformation. How will we focus this energy? Transit of Venus -- June 8 Venus’ six-hour rendezvous with the Sun begins at 5:13 GMT and concludes at 11:25 GMT on June 8. The entire “eclipse” will be visible from most of Asia, Africa, Europe, Greenland and the Indian Ocean. In the United States, the Sun will rise just after Venus completes her transit. This is the dawning of a new cycle that completes when Venus transits the Sun again on June 6, 2012. The Mayan Calendar and other timekeeping systems alert us to the significance of this window of time, this gateway of opportunity for quantum change toward enlightenment and peace centered in love. We are the people. This is the time. Individually and collectively, spiritual seekers around the world will celebrate this portal and herald a new beginning for humanity. Uranus Stations Retrograde -- June 10 The rebel Uranus turns retrograde in Pisces, driving the revolutionary process inward. Uranus’ transit of Pisces began last year and continues through 2011. Uranus in Pisces marks an era of mass spiritual awakening -- breakthroughs in consciousness reflected in science, the arts, medicine, politics and social structures as well as intuitive awareness. This transit also “happens” to coincide with the Mayan calendar. This retrograde period continues through November 11. In fact, Uranus returns to forward motion on 11/11 at 11:11 a.m. PST. Another coincidence? Sun-Pluto Opposition -- June 11 -- 8:22 a.m. EST Pluto takes on the Sun in a direct opposition that will bring up what’s been hidden deep within the self as we continue our transformational journey. The Sun represents the conscious self. In this opposition, Pluto will ferret out unconscious beliefs and patterns, drawing them into conscious awareness for integration. Pluto is a transpersonal planet, so we will be challenged in this process to understand the relationship of the individual self to the collective during this crucial time for humanity and the Earth. What is our role? How is it changing? How are outdated beliefs holding us back? We’re about to find out as this Sun-Pluto opposition leads toward the Gemini New Moon. Mercury-Pluto Opposition -- June 15 -- 11:06 a.m. EST As if we haven’t received enough of Pluto’s transformative energy recently, he opposes Mercury, the messenger, on June 15. Are we being honest and open in our communications? What messages have we been avoiding? Information that has been hidden from the self will now be revealed. With Pluto in Sagittarius opposing Mercury in Gemini, we are called to not only witness but embody higher truth. It’s time to walk the walk as much as we talk the talk. New Moon in Gemini -- June 17 - 4:27 p.m. EST All New Moons are about fresh starts and new beginnings. If we need to change course, now’s the time. With four planets in Gemini (Sun, Moon, Venus and Mercury) opposing Pluto at this New Moon, we may be in for a few surprises that will continue to alter our perceptions and “plans.” Transformation truly is the name of this game. Mercury, ruling planet of Gemini, is tightly conjunct the Sun and Moon. Nearby Venus, fresh from her date with the Sun, also plays a starring role. Gemini represents the development of the intellect, and Mercury represents the mental aspect of consciousness. How are our perceptions shifting about the nature of reality, about the world and the cosmos we inhabit, about our power to create through thoughts and consciousness? This New Moon will help us explore these themes. Summer Solstice -- June 20 - 8:57 p.m. EST Father Sun enters Cancer, the sign of the Mother, on Father’s Day this year. Celebrated since ancient times, Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year. Agriculturally and spiritually, this is the high point of the growing season. Summer Solstice is traditionally celebrated with community feasts and celebrations. This year, we gather to celebrate not only the change of season, but the new individual and collective identity emerging from deep within us that better reflects our true nature. Mars into Leo -- June 23 Mars’ seven-week transit of Leo will be a playful romp. The red planet enjoys his time in the fire sign of Leo, where passion, creativity and aggressive behavior flourish. The warrior within us may feel energized. As we integrate the recent Passage of Venus, our challenge will be to honor our feminine, intuitive nature while enjoying the extroverted passions of Mars in Leo. Venus Stations Direct -- June 29 The Goddess concludes her starring role -- for the time being -- when she resumes forward motion on June 29. Are our lives and loves more liberated today than six months ago? How has Venus guided us, transformed our ideals, blessed our relationships? Which of our relationships have transformed or dissolved? Have new relationships emerged? Have our finances been reshaped? How have we transformed our relationship with money? As the keynotes of the recent Venus passage, these themes will remain in effect through the sister transit in June 2012. --------------------------------------------------- Post-Eclipse Notes --------------------------------------------------- The Lunar Eclipse/Wesak-Beltane Full Moon back on May 4 packed a cosmic punch! As the veils thinned, many shared in communion with the higher realms. We are, no doubt, zinging along in higher consciousness after experiencing such a powerful portal. We’ve noticed several shifts now that we’re assimilating the energy of May 4 (which was coupled with a New Moon Solar Eclipse on April 19) as well as the ongoing vibes of Venus and Pluto. The “dimension shift” is even more noticeable. As Lightworkers move more fully into their power, the energies of greed and corruption try in vain to hold onto their illusion of power and control. The atrocities committed against Iraqi prisoners by U.S. soldiers were exposed during the period affected by the eclipses. U.S. President George W. Bush’s approval ratings dropped to a new low. The energy of humanity’s awakening is exposing widespread corruption and scandals, and spawning even more drastic measures -- such as the gruesome murder of an American civilian -- that reflect the shift of consciousness now under way. “Apocalypse” literally means the “revelation of things hidden.” We’re certainly witnessing an apocalypse in world events today, and it will continue! This is a sure sign that those who work consciously with the Light are reclaiming their personal power and aligning with their life purpose. The more Light we embody, the more desperate will be the attempts to control events and unfoldment on the planet. Light and love are re-awakening within the hearts of humanity. At the same time, unspeakable acts of horror and violence are making headlines. Both expressions will continue to unfold on parallel “tracks” as the dimension shift plays out on Earth. The next eight years will be especially volatile. Daily spiritual practice helps us remain centered so we may be of service at this critical time.
