Resolutions, Smezolutions.....enough already. We have just begun the new year, and if you REALLY want to accomplish something in this year, set a GOAL, and go for it!
You may already feel deluged with information, and the first work-week of the new year is just barely over. So......my recommendation is to keep it simple and keep it focused. Below are a few tips that will help ensure your success in meeting your goals this year:
- Start backwards - think of the end result that you want to achieve and the timeframe in which you want to accomplish it. Then, begin filling in the "how to get there" by breaking it down into smaller segments between where you are today and where you want to be.
- Write down your goals and look at them daily. When you write them down and review them regularly, you increase your chance of success by almost 80 percent.
- Share your goals with a few people who you know will be supportive of your efforts and who will encourage you along the way. (We all need cheerleaders from time to time.)
- Reach high when setting your goals as you will grow in the process of getting there. That is a big accomplishment in itself.
- Visualize having already attained the end result as this will help keep you focused on accomplishing your goals.
- If you slip up on the path to achieving your goals, forgive yourself, and get right back on track. Just because you may experience a blip during the process, it is NO reason to throw in the towel and give up. True success comes from getting back up and trying again.
Wishing you good health and much success in 2007!
