Changing Seasons, Changing Focus

Here we are, staring down the barrel at yet another autumn. But wait... weren't we just celebrating the beginning of the new year?! Oh, the time does seem to fly doesn't it? It seems to go quicker every year. Vacations come to an end as the summer slips away and the brisk air of fall slowly begins to replace the stifling heat.

When the seasons change, it just naturally feels like a good time to wrap up projects you've started in the past months and begin new ones. At this time of year, as the kids go back to school and shorter days remind you that summer is waning, it's good to sit down and mentally prepare for the new season before you; to devise a game plan for yourself.

What will the final quarter of the year hold for you? What will you create? Will you easily shake off the leisure of the summer and shift your focus to the months ahead? Or will you procrastinate and take the next month to get back into the swing of things, finding yourself into October before you really get refocused?

I encourage you to take a bit of time in the coming weeks to evaluate the direction your life is headed, to choose what you'll focus on and to set some new goals, both personal ones and professional. I sincerely hope one of those goals will be to change one habit that will make your life simpler and reduce your stress. I'm willing to bet that by the time the holidays roll around, your efforts to refocus and plan will have allowed you to accomplish more than you had thought possible!

How Many Are FREEcycling Today?

Decluttering your life is a wonderful way to rid yourself of the things that no longer give you value and a great way to help someone in need at the same time. All over the world, people are helping others and decluttering their lives by giving away the things they no longer need, through FREEcycle.org. This means that fewer items are going into the trash and filling up the landfills of our planet.

It's so simple to join! You just sign up through the web site, and you'll begin getting the emails that people in your local FREEcycle group send out either seeking free items, or offering free items. It's as simple as that! Just go to www.FREEcycle.org to sign up!

Number of cities FREEcycling last month: 941
Number of cities FREEcycling this month: 1141

Number of people FREEcycling last month: 209,771
Number of people FREEcycling this month: 308,767

Check it out and let me know what you think of the idea. If you've received something or given something away through this wonderful concept, tell me about that too!
