And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. Luke 17:17-18 KJV
Christians often pay an enormous price in time, talent, treasure, and even lifeblood, to share the Gospel. All too often, there is little visible return on our investment. Why do we bother?
We work for the One and the one. God directs us to work in His harvest. His Word should be enough for any obedient son or daughter of God. He also richly blesses those who serve Him in sincerity and faithfulness.
We also work for the one who responds. The hours of blood, sweat and tears are a small price to pay for a soul redeemed from eternal death. The joy of a new Gospel sibling should brighten the soul and spirit of any believer.
The days, and nights, are often long and hard. The return on investment seems dismal too much of the time. Still we soldier on, in joy and hope. For the here and now, and the there and then..
We work for the One. We labor, just for one. The price may be high, but the reward is always sweet.
Think: I work for the One who sent me, and the one soul who will respond.
Pray: “Lord, help me to be faithful in my assigned duties and joyous even in small outcomes.”
