"Called Up" by Kirk
Hunt Then king David sent, and fetched him (Mephibosheth) out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar. (2 Samuel 9:5 KJV) Please read 2 Samuel 9: 1-5 David's soldiers and courtiers arrived at Machir's house and asked for Mephibosheth. The king of all Israel, David of Bethlehem, ordered that Mephibosheth appear before him. No matter how civil and courteous the words and actions of David's men, everyone likely assumed the worst. The rulebook of power politics insists on the elimination to all potential claimants to the throne. As the , the last living member of Saul's family, Mephibosheth is a potential threat to David's position and crown. The common wisdom is that Saul's grandson is a dead man. David certainly held it within his power to simply execute the boy. Nothing could be further from David's mind and heart. David called up Mephibosheth to live like a prince in the king's palace. There could be a season in your life, where it seems you have been forgotten. The enemy of your soul will try to magnify your flaws and imperfections. The deceiver will seek to convince you that you're a no body in a backwater. No matter where you are, you are on God's heart and mind. No matter what has gone before, He has a plan for your life. Sooner, or later, you will be called up by God. Stay faithful. Remain steadfast. Continue working, right where you are. He will be called up. Think: This place and space are part of God's plan for my life. Pray: “Lord, I will work right here until You call me up..” Copyright © June 2008, Kirk Hunt |
