“Back Seat Man: The
Holy Spirit But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26 KJV) The A-10 Thunderbolt and F-16 Falcon are single seat aircraft. They are designed to fly and fight with one pilot at the controls. Both aircraft have developed impressive combat success records, flown by a crew of one. Despite their one seat operations, both aircraft have two seat training versions. The pilots learn to fly and fight with a back seat man teaching them what they need to know. I'm sure more than one pilot has pulled a victory from defeat, listening to an instructor's echoing teaching. No matter how it feels from time-to-time, Christian men and women aren't alone in the fray. The Holy Spirit is there. Coaching. Counseling. Correcting. If you ask Him, the Holy Spirit will ride with you. No matter how alone you seem to be, He’ll be there for you. He’ll put words in your mouth, skill in your hands and courage in your heart. His Power will flood through you, giving you gifts you could never earn. The Holy Spirit gives grace to those who invite Him into their hearts. Let the Holy Spirit take complete command of your life. There will be fewer mistakes. There will be greater victories. Even ace pilots will marvel at your success record. Think: The Holy Spirit is there for me, if I seek Him. Pray: “Lord, let your Holy Spirit guide and instruct me.”
