“They Meant, He Intends But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. (Genesis 50:20 KJV) Joseph's brothers had planned to murder him. Only Reuben's clever appeal to their greed prevented bloodshed. Jacob's sons callously sold their brother for a few pieces of silver. Sin is never part of God's plan. He's too holy for that. God's permissive will allows some things to happen. Joseph, trudging off in chains, as his brothers split the profits, is one example. It is God's perfect or divine Will where we place our hope and confidence. His power and providence turns the most miserable of circumstances into blessings. Despite his brothers' evil intent, Joseph became a price of Egypt. Betrayal became blessing through God's intent and command. Your circumstances are what they are. They are not the final word in your story. God will change their evil intent to His plan for your good. Don't forget to bless others when you arrive. Joseph's story included thirteen years of slavery and prison in Egypt. Joseph's story ended with eighty years as Pharoah's Chancellor. The brothers who brutalized then sold him, wound up living under his authority and power. What they meant. What He intends. Have confidence and hope in God's plans for you. Think: God's intention toward me is good. Pray: “Lord, I will trust You and Your Word.” Copyright © October 2007, Kirk Hunt |
