Learn To Trust Himby Kirk Hunt

Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. (Psalms 16:1 KJV)

My oldest brother tells the story of learning to trust his pole climbing equipment. The power utility taught him the details about the strength and capability of the hooks and belt. He memorized and re-memorized the procedure for climbing and working on a power pole. Knowledge of the equipment and process didn't equal trust of the equipment or process.

The instructor required all of the apprentice linemen to climb poles, then play catch. As the ball moved from man to man, each apprentice had to rely on his hooks and belt to participate. After a time, they stopped thinking about the equipment and focused on not dropping the ball.

Your belief and faith in God is strong enough. Your knowledge of Scripture remains an area for continuous study. I pray you will grow in both. But do you trust Him?

There's a reason God led you to climb to the top of a tall and intimidating circumstance. Far above the safety of your natural abilities and available resources, He calls you to act and perform for His Kingdom. Will you lean out in trust?

What will you focus on, His call, or the circumstances? You know enough Scripture. You have enough faith. But do you trust Him?

Think: God does not call the equipped. God always equips the called.

Pray: “Lord, teach me to trust You..”
