“ Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. (1 Corinthians 3:8-9 KJV) I serve these folk, but a blessing comes from those folk. I invest myself here, but my payoff comes from there. I sow and plant in the north, but I receive the harvest and increase from the south. It doesn't matter where you are working. The exact facts and figures of your service aren't the important part. Only the faithfulness of your obedience is all-important. Trying to follow the debits and credits will only make your head hurt. To you, it may seem mismatched and random. In God's economy, it makes perfect sense. Forget the bookkeeping and focus on His Voice. Your obedience isn't just for you. Do you know how often you have been God's instrument in rewarding someone? Probably more often than you know. Build where you are sent. Bless where you are planted. Your work is a blessing. Your faithfulness will be rewarded. Just don't expect to understand the round-trip of God's rewards. Your unexpected gift may be a payoff for Kingdom work. Your “random” kindness could be a reward for hidden, but faithful service. Giving or getting, there is a reward in your obedience. Think: If I follow His commands, God will reward me. Pray: “Lord, help me to work in faithful obedience.
