“ The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. (Jeremiah 31:3 KJV) The captives have been marched off to Babylon. The remaining Israelites are a beaten people, living in the literal ashes of their homes in Israel. They are not on a forced march because they are considered unworthy and undesirable. They have been left to fend for themselves in a land devastated by war and plundered in conquest. For these despondent, grieving refugees, God gives Jeremiah a message of grace and restoration. God's judgment has been harsh and heavy, but it has still been tempered with love. These new circumstances are bleak and woeful, but God's old love remains bright and strong. In the middle of wreck and ruin, God's plan for the people combined love and kindness. There would be a chapter of healing. The story would end in restoration. Your situation is not a surprise to God. The facts and figures didn't bypass His all-knowing wisdom or infinite power. He has plans for you. Joyous, loving designs that will make your heart sing. God has already written your story. It does not end here. These circumstances are not the final word. His plans for you are written with love. His picture of your ending is drawn with kindness. Think: His plans for you are drawn with love. Pray: “Lord, help me trust You, despite the circumstances.” Copyright © June 2007, Kirk Hunt |
