“ And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old. (2 Kings 4:14 KJV) Please read 2 Kings 4:8-17 Ancient Israel saw childlessness as judgment from God. If her husband had children with a prior wife, the Shunammite woman bore the shame and stigma alone. Only her wealth and station kept her from becoming a pariah. Despite her circumstances, the Shunammite chose to be a blessing. She looked for an opportunity to bless and support others. Those who want to build the Kingdom can always find a God-ordained opportunity. The Shunammite's generous provision for the ministry of Elisha was an act of worship, pure and simple. What she did, she did simply to please God. She expected nothing, save God's approval. Surprise. In a single stroke, God transformed her situation. God made His judgment known, in a plain and undeniable form. Her provision for ministry yielded precious fruit. God honors your work and investment in His Kingdom. What you do for Him will bear fruit. What that fruit will be, might be a surprise. God sees your hidden faithfulness and stealth blessings. He will send fruitfulness into your life, at the right season. It may be a surprise, but it will also be a delight. Think: My work for the Kingdom will bear fruit. Pray: “Lord, help me to sow good seed so I can reap good fruit.” Copyright © June 2007, Kirk Hunt |
