“ The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen! (2 Samuel 1:19 KJV) She was a saint of God and a Gospel sister. I will miss her laughter and unique insight. I will not confess to understanding God's design or plan in this situation. To my mortal eyes and sensibilities, her graduation was too far too soon. As Christians, we are prepared. We live ready to greet eternity and the Messiah we love so dearly. Slow, or suddenly, we face death with the calm assurance of our Lord and Savior. However prepared we may be leave, that doesn't mean we're ready to go. We trust God, and obey His sovereign will, yet we still have our opinions. The tears at funerals are evidence that God allows us to choose, and those choices tug at our hearts. If she were here, there would be a lively debate. She would use laughter and wit to poke and prod at my heartstrings. She would push me to grow in Him, using her own situation as a teaching lesson. She was a strong and gifted woman of God. She touched and blessed many lives in her too few years. Her beauty was easy to see, in more ways than one. Of course, she would also rub it in that she's there and I'm there. She still had that much human in her spirit. “You just wait until I catch up.” Think: Death is not the end for Christians. Pray: “Lord, fill my heart with Your joy, despite the sorrow of today's situation.” Copyright © June 2007, Kirk Hunt |
