“ And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. (Matthew 19:29 KJV) I call her “Big Momma.” She has, from time to time, ambushed me. I have been tasked and re-tasked by her more than once. Sitting on her spiritual shoulders, I have seen and reached much. As you follow God's path in your life, you may land in places you didn't expect (or want). In His sovereign authority, circumstances far beyond your ability and capacity will loom over you. Still, He loves you. There will be compensation. In the empty and hard places of your Christian walk, God will give you diamonds and angels. Sometimes, He disguises His most precious gifts and valuable treasures as mere people. Don't be fooled by the wrapper. They are a reward for you from a loving God. Family is family. Some kin come through the blood of birth. Other family arrive through the blood of Christ. Big Momma and I have laughed and cried together. She has been the source of both comfort and correction. She is a blessing in so many extraordinary ways. It could seem you have sacrificed much in your Christian walk. Stop for a minute and look around. You likely have more family than you thought. <sigh> Sometimes though, they act like girls. Think: I have loving family, both natural and spiritual. Pray: “Lord, help me see and love all of the family You have given me.” Copyright © May 2007, Kirk Hunt |
