“ Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. (Psalms 36:5 KJV) In 1988, I bought a 1980 Chevette for $300 and $200 in registration fees. Despite being a legally wrecked vehicle, “Brother Greg,” promised I would get 12 months of use out of the car. My desperate need, and Greg's “warranty,” forced my purchase. I drove my embarrassing little car for most of 1988, and in 1989 I drove it from Sacramento to Seattle. I commuted throughout the Puget Sound region until a traffic accident in 1990. The insurance company settled my claim for $500 and clear title to my "legally wrecked" car. After I fixed the headlight, the Washington State Patrol gave me a new registration for my old vehicle. I continued long range commuting during 1990, 1991 and into 1992. While buying a new car for my wife, the dealer gave me $500 for my embarrassing little vehicle. After that, Debra and I saw it driving around Seattle. That beat up, little peanut of a car is an undeniable demonstration of God’s grace and faithfulness. God doesn’t always give us what we want, but He always gives us what we need. He delights in using worthless throw aways as divine blessings and sovereign benefits. The least valuable and most unlikely become His best tools for delivering maximum benefits. Wrecked little cars or soiled little lives, are instruments of benefit in the Master’s Hands. Are you willing to be His instrument? Think: God is faithful. Pray: “Lord, I am thankful for what You have done, are doing, and will do, in my life.” Copyright © April 2007, Kirk Hunt |
