“ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 KJV) Jesus' invitation is to all men. It is a clear and gracious call to all willing hearts to accept care and assistance through His power. We often appeal to the unredeemed with this verse. Those who truly seek Him find consolation and comfort in this Scripture. Those who have already accepted Jesus should return to this verse, often. At times, Kingdom work is a heavy burden. Even for devout and sincere saints the situations we face threaten to burst our too human hearts. Even with miraculous provision, mere men can only work so long and so hard. Your spiritual depth and Godly faith are limited by human boundaries. Sooner, or later, your circumstance will exceed your capacity. We are limited, but He is omnipotent. God asks us to work in His Kingdom, but He also calls us to rest in His Arms as well. His rest is intended for the faithful and converts alike. You will have some long, hard days. Expect to do your part. After your exertions, rest in His grace and mercy. God gives us great gifts and provides marvelous things for us. Rest and repose come directly from His Hand. Honor His invitation. Enjoy His gift. His rest is available. There may be sweat and tears, but there is also comfort and peace. Rest in Him. Think: New converts and old saints need to lean on Him. Pray: “Lord, teach me to seek Your rest, rather than struggle alone.” Copyright © April 2007, Kirk Hunt |
