Gas Prices Finally Moderating

We never thought that gas below $3.00 a gallon would look like a bargain!  Yesterday we filled up at Costco for $2.89 a gallon – down from $3.43 a few weeks ago – nearly a 20% reduction!  Woo-hoo!  Let’s all hit the road!

Last summer gas prices hovered around $2.75 a gallon, so we are almost back to those prices.  And, you know what; gas is only one component of your summer vacation plans.  RV Resorts/ Campgrounds/ motels, food, vehicle payments/ maintenance/ insurance and entertainment can all eat up more of your travel budget than gas.

So don’t let the gas bogeyman ruin your summer plans – there is so much out there to see and do, and road tripping is so much easier than any other mode of vacation.

When was the last time you were traveling in your vehicle and had to stand in line and put all your possessions on a conveyer belt, be searched, and limit all liquids to 3 oz.?  See what I mean?  So grab a six-pack or more of your favorite liquid, load up your car or RV with anything you want and go exploring.

Happy Summer.

Another Couple Getting Ready to Leave

Hi Carol:

I wrote to you back in March about taking the leap away from family to embrace our dream of seeing the country by RV. After purchasing your book, and reading it cover-to-cover (2x)!, we have recently ordered a 2008 Forest River Lexington (210GTS) and are ready to start our own Road Trip Dream.

Thank you for your inspiration and down to earth advice.  Your suggestions have given us inisght and confidence that we have made the right decision for this time in our lives.

Mary McGrath - Cape Cod, MA

You have to know that nothing makes me more excited than to get a letter like this.  All the long days promoting and writing fade away when just one person tells me that we have inspired them to live their dream.  Congratulations Mary!  Stay in touch as you begin your dream trip so we can inspire others to live theirs also.

How about an RV Timeshare?

Once you have done your Road Trip Dream, you may want to look at other RV options.  Here is an innovative idea:

If you have ever dreamed of exploring the country in a luxury RV, but know you wouldn't use it enough to make the financial commitment, you'll think shared ownership makes sense. This is the same conclusion Jim Palmer came to before launching CoachShare, Inc. "My wife and I wanted to take a few trips a year in a high-end coach, but that didn't justify the cost or hassle associated with purchasing our own," Palmer says. That is when CoachShare, Inc. was born. CoachShare has launched an innovative new fractional ownership program that allows participants to enjoy the benefits of luxury motor coach ownership without the hassles and high prices normally associated with luxury coach travel.
