Dreaming - Live Your Road Trip Dream April, 2007 EZezine

Will April Showers really bring May Flowers?

It has been a crazy weather month for much of the country and I know that everyone is looking forward to the eventual lifting of winter’s blanket.  Let’s hope we are all on our way towards spring.

Here on the West Coast, we are mostly enjoying Spring weather, although we did encounter some snow in the pass going to central Oregon last weekend.  Very unusual for this time of year.

I thought you might enjoy these Spring pictures from our yard. We hope your travel plans are shaping up for the summer.

AARP National Convention

We hope that some of you can stop by to say "hi" to us when we are in Boston for the AARP Convention - Life@50+.  You know that the headliner is Rod Stewart, don't you?  Be still my heart!

The dates are September 5-7.  Here is the website to find out more. We will be in the RVIA booth.

The Traditional RVer

Florence wrote to not only wish us well, but to make a very important point about the RVing community.  Read her letter and my answer and see if you agree.

Dear Carol and Phil,

Congratulations on being appointed to National Advisor.  I am so happy for you.  What an exciting challenge for the both of you. From what I have gleaned from our short association, I bought your book, you will certainly be in your element.

Hey, while you are out there representing we baby boomer, I am an early one, remember that not all of us are fortunate enough to have made the good, to great choices during the years of employment and are far from the average income $93,000 or expect anywhere near those figures in retirement.  So help us out, out there to keep prices down and competitive.  So we can all enjoy our little corner of the world out there to be seen and enjoyed, with out being priced out because the more affluent have moved in.

We at the lower end of the totem pole as are many too.  So "Keep your positive Heart and Mind, filling the world with special joy."

Thank you,
Sincerely

Florence Valloni

You are so right!  RVers traditionally have been from the more middle income segment of the population due to the ease and lower cost of enjoying our country via RVing.  It is still the best family vacation value going!

RVIA already has spokespeople that are the more traditional RVer.  This year they chose us and a pro bowler to add to the line-up of spokespeople to try to penetrate new markets for them -- Attract people to RVing who haven't traditionally been RVers.

I’m sure that I don’t have the power to keep prices in line, but I will always be mindful that not everyone has been able to put together that type of retirement or pre-retirement.  Thanks for writing and for encouraging us to keep perspective on our boomer friends!

Favorite Website

My friend Alyce wrote to say that her favorite travel website is without a doubt,  www.roadsideamerica.com

You may remember Alyce from an earlier newsletter.  She's the "going topless" road tripper.  Here is her picture again, and her websites.

Starbucking

Now you may think this has something to do with stars, but no, it has to do with our favorite coffee chain.  A guy in California who goes only by the name of "Winter" is attempting to visit every Starbucks on the planet.  He's having a tough time though becuase they are expanding at such a fast pace.

Read his whole story here.  It is quite fascinating.

Don’t forget!

Personally autographed copies of the book are always available on our website
