Dreamin' - Live Your Road Trip Dream - February, 2007 EZezine

In the Blink of an Eye

February has been a wild month.  Normally we’re heading for sunnier climates for a few weeks, but Phil had emergency surgery on his knee instead.  So “Nurse Carol” has been in action and he’s on the road to recovery!

What it made us remember is that life can change in the blink of an eye -- sometimes for just a short time like our situation, but sometimes permanantly.  Live your life everyday.  Don't put off those things that are important to you.  Find a way to make things happen.  Don't just let life march on by; in the charge while you can!

A Third Printing is in the Works

Thanks to all of you and thousands of other readers around the country, Live Your Road Trip Dream is nearly sold out again.

Before we print for a third time, we’d like to know if there are things about the book that you think could be improved.  Maybe subjects you would have liked more information on, something that wasn’t clear when you read it, something that wasn’t covered at all, or even information that was useless!  No subject is off-limits.  Our desire is to make the book really useful, so your feedback is important to us.  Just drop us an email (carol@roadtripdream.com) with your thoughts.  Thanks for taking your time to help.

The Whites' are Living their Dream!

2 kids, 41 states, 50,000 miles, in less than 40’ of living space!

On the road for over a year,

the White House Road Trip is still going strong.

Now, you may think you are seeing wrong, but another White family has used the "White House" analogy on their trip.  You might remember that our motor home was called the "Rolling White House".

Enjoy this fun family's enthusiasm and visit their website.

 *************

Many times in life we dream and hope and long to do something, and yet, it remains an elusive dream.  Thinking that “if I only had the (________)” fill in the blank with anything… time, money, nerve…  And yet others are waiting for a divine “sign” or the “right time” before they act on a dream or even a plan.

“The only regrets in life are the chances you never take!”

Living by this philosophy, in September 2005, we packed up the kids and took a “chance”.  As a ‘remote telecommuter,’ husband Travis is able to work anywhere as long as he can hook up to high speed internet.  With adventurous spirits we made the choice to sell our house, put all the rest of the ‘house junk’ in storage, and take off across the country.  Our journey started when the kids were six and seven.

Now a year older, they have both enjoyed their Road Schooling adventures and enjoy being called “Roads Scholars.”  Most of their education focuses on the specific area that we are in.  For example, after spending a couple of weeks in the San Antonio area, they can tell you anything you want to know about the Alamo and the River Walk area, and are excited about it.  Whenever we visit a National Park, the first thing they do is head to the Ranger Station and start working on their Junior Ranger Badges.

Society has trained us to work hard, retire and then enjoy.  A growing number of families now have the opportunity to work from home via the internet or traveling temp jobs.  With this ability, more and more families will realize that a great time to travel is when both you and the kids are young.  Building family bonds and memories that will last a lifetime.  That’s what we are trying to do, one mile at a time!

Mobile Internet  Information

As a result of the article I wrote in the Good Sam Club’s Cyber-Sam newsletter last month, I corresponded with a couple who know more about satellite internet and other internet technologies than I’ll ever know.  They are certified installers for both of the satellite companies and provide lots of great information on their website about mobile internet technologies.

Thanks Barb for bringing it to my attention.

Don’t forget!

Personally autographed copies of the book are always available on our website
