Dreamin! - Live Your Road Trip Dream - November, 2005 EZezine

The holidays are upon us

I don't know about you, but this time of year makes me groan.  So many decisions to be made, so many activities, and so many demands on our time.

Since we went on our year long trip, we have actually become better consumers and gift-givers.  We found that we didn't really need so many "things" to be happy, and we found that memories are more important than "stuff".  We really try to make that a focus with our grandchildren -- taking them places, rather than overdoing the gifts throughout the year-- they all have so much, it seems, anyway.

As we gather for Thanksgiving with our families near and far, we hope you will remember to make memories.  They never wear out and they last a lifetime.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

The Good Sam Club touts Live Your Road Trip Dream

The November Cyber-Sam newsletter had a very nice review of the book, along with a link to our website for a special "Good Sam discount" price.  This was a great piece of publicity that resulted in many more people getting our encouragement on living their dream.

Many thanks to The Good Sam Club!

If you missed the Cyber-Sam issue and are a Good Sam member, email me your club number and I'll give you the discount code!

There are lots of ways to live your dream

In October, I attended a publisher's conference in Denver, Colorado, and was once again reminded how many variations there are in people's idea of the perfect dream trip.

I met Lars Clausen at the conference.  He is a Lutheran minister in Chelan, Washington and his book is One Wheel - Many Spokes.  Yes, he traveled the states on a unicycle! His adventure included:

  • 9,136 miles through all 50 states
  • 2 Guinness World Records
  • 6-month family adventure

The book is a lively read -- and quite a twist on what most of us envision for our road trip dream.  You can read more at his website.

Just to make your holiday gift giving easier and more economical, we have devised a special offer just for Dreamin' subscribers!

We'll all got friends and relatives who keep talking about going on that long trip "some day".  You've probably discussed it many times.  Help them move closer to their goal with their own copy of our book.

During the holidays only, if you order just the book ($17.95) from our website you will receive our special Traveler's Gift Pack instead -- at no additional charge!

That is a savings of $6.00 - and includes FREE STANDARD SHIPPING.

All you have to do is write "newsletter special" in the special instructions space on the shopping cart and we'll do the rest.

Your gift will arrive beautifully gift wrapped and you may have it shipped directly to your recipient by just filling in a different "ship to" name and address on the cart.

If you have friends who would like to take advantage of this offer, just have them sign-up for the newsletter, then go to the cart and order their special offer.

    Have You Visited RoadTripAmerica.com?

There are lots of places on the web to get road trip information, but this one is one of our favorites.  RoadTripAmerica.com really believes that content is king -- and boy do they deliver.

They have a lively forum, lots of road tripping book reviews (including ours!), ideas, articles and that all-important fuel calculator for checking the cost of your next adventure!

There is always something new on this site, so next time you are cruising the web, stop by and visit -- tell them Phil and Carol sent you!

Send us your tips and questions!

Always feel free to email us with your road trip questions or tips, or thoughts about the book.  We’ll be printing some of your comments in the months to come.

Where have your dreams taken you?

Please send us your travel pictures taken on your road trip dream.  We want to share stories of trips that were inspired by reading Live Your Road Trip Dream – Travel for a year for the cost of staying home.
