Phil  and  Carol  White

Not quite Rock Star status, but...

It was sure fun being a local TV personality, even if it was only for eight minutes!  Phil and I appeared on a local, Portland morning show called AM Northwest on October 12th.  Our TV debut!

Not only did our local friends get a big kick out of it, the TV people said we did a great job.  We felt very relaxed as we shared the story of Live Your Road Trip Dream with the co-hosts and audience.

The interview should be up on the website shortly for all to see.

Fifty-one weeks a year, these tough hombres are

businessmen, dads, jocks, and husbands;

but, on that fifty-second week of the year -- WATCH OUT

They become the Montana Mountain Men.

Now if this isn't a group for the movie "City Slickers" I don't know what is.  A by-invitation-only gathering brings these young men from all walks of life -- most of them didn't grow up on a ranch or farm, but they all felt the need to connect with their Wild West heritage on some level.  Some had never shot a gun, some had never owned a pair of boots, but all of them swear by the enrichment and camaraderie provided by their once-a-year, let it all hang out, be a crazy, swaggering cowboy outing.

So why the MONTANA Mountain Men when they are all from OREGON?  Their first outing was to Montana, and one of their very talented members wrote a song that has become their anthem.

Take a listen - it is really good.

Maybe some road trippers sing after all...

Thanks to Christopher Edmonds, AKA War Paint (in the red shirt), for sharing this story and to Greg Herman, AKA Many Guns, for writing and recording this wonderful song.  Part of their "initiation" ritual for newcomers is the assignment of their Montana Mountain Man name--something that they all look forward to with great expectation.

Oh, and no, they don't sleep in the wooden shack.  Just off camera is a huge motorhome -- and a few tents.

Blogging has become a really popular way to stay in touch with family and friends while you are on a trip.  It has the advantage (or maybe not!) of being interactive -- your readers can post responses to your blogs -- and not filling your friends email boxes with long emails and pictures, but why not consider a blog on steroids?

MyTripJournal.com is one of our favorite road tripping products. It combines the flexibility of a blog with the added interest of tying all your stories to mapping software, so everyone can trace your route along the way.  You post the pictures and journal entries that are associated with each map location.  Then when you return home, you have a complete record of your trip!  You can download it to a CD - or they will send you one (FREE with their premium service).

This is so much easier than building your own website -- or even starting a blog, and the cost is so reasonable -- from $19 and they even offer a 30-day FREE trial.  Check it out.

A connection almost missed...

Rallies and trade shows are wonderful places to meet people and form new relationships with other RVers.  The problem is, when you are working at a show, you meet too many interesting people!

After the Great North American RV Rally in Redmond, Oregon this summer, Tom Gosner took a moment to send me an email at my Rally address.  Somehow I missed it -- and just found it and connected with them.

"You didn't meet me at Redmond -- you met Stephanie. She came back that day w/a great recap of her conversation with you. At every rally or event there's always one or two folks that stand out -- and you just sorta' know there's some synergy out there waiting to happen..."

While we are waiting for an opportunity to reconnect in person, I found that they have a great site for RVers.  What is different about their site is that it is totally non-commercial.  All the information is from other RVers -- a really "community" website.

Check out all the great information that they have gathered at www.rversonline.org

Don’t forget!

Personally autographed copies of the book are always available on our website for your next gift-giving occasion.
