Need Reviewers and Other Announcements http://ezezine.com Hello everyone! I hope this message finds you doing well! I know most everyone is gearing up for the end of the school year, so just hang in there! I have received a new manuscript for a book to help new teachers. The title is Taming the Tigers. I am in need of five people to review this manuscript. Below are the requirements: Reviewer Must: -Be familiar with Survival Kit for New Teachers and have read it/have a copy of it -Be a new teacher or work directly with new teachers - specifically years 0-2 -Have time to review and return comments within the next three weeks I will send a review sheet along with the manuscript. I must also ask you to sign a form stating that you will not pirate any materials received. I will pay $25 to each reviewer. I realize this isn't much, but it might buy dinner and you'd be helping me out tremendously! I will take the first five responses who meet the criteria. Please do not respond if you do not meet the requirements listed above. Thanks! ------------------------------------------- Presenters Needed - Will be Paid! I have been contacted by an event planner who is in need of some teachers to conduct seminars for dance studio teachers. I believe she would prefer to have teachers who are familiar working with dance and/or drill students (and parents). Below is the information. If you are qualified and interested, please contact me and I will forward your mail to Susan. Thanks! Seminar Topic (working title) Dealing with Parents (and teens) in the Dance Studio (1 hour segment): The dance studio owners/teachers report their # 1 issue they deal with every day is “handling parents”. Activities involving children means dealing with parents and their concerns. Here are some of the issues: • Parents who over judge the talent of their child and want them placed in more advanced classes then they are qualified for • Parents who think their child is not getting enough attention in class • Parents who start gossip or problems with other parents or with friends of their child • Parents who take their time paying class tuition and other required fees • Parents who think they know more about the subject than the teacher • Parents who demand a conversation at appropriate times If another subject could be addressed in the 1 hour time frame, the #2 issue facing teachers is “dealing with teenagers” especially girls. Issues are: • bad behavior – playing tricks on each other • gossip • cruelty to fellow students • mocking or picking on fellow students • pre-occupation with fashion, makeup, clothes, etc. Seminar attendees: 30 – 50 Dance Studio Owners. Their profile will be varied. There is no certification nor degree requirements to be a dance teacher, and so it can not be assumed that these teachers have had any training in pedagogy or classroom skills. They will be at the seminar because they have an interest in growing their business. Seminar locations and dates: Natick (Boston), MA - July 30th Detroit – Aug. 6th Tampa – Aug 13th Long Beach, CA – Aug 20th Fee: $200 plus mileage reimbursement Note: this is planned to be a seminar series that expands yearly to encompass more cities as it grows. ----------------------------------------------- That's it! Thanks in advance to everyone who responds to my request! I can't respond to everyone, so if you don't hear from me, that means I found my five people. I sincerely appreciate your generosity in offering your time and comments to help us provide quality resources! Have a blessed day and remember - My door's always open! Sincerely, Emma McDonald Inspiring Teachers http://www.inspiringteachers.com
