Welcome...

To our new and returning readers! This issue of WAT focuses on ambiguous calls for ezine sub*scriptions. Have you ever seen one of those ezine signup forms that simply say "sign up for my fr*ee ezine", and that's all? Yeah, I'd give them my address, not!

Avoid ambiguous calls to sign up...

"Sign up for Life Tips Ezine"
"Sign up for Marketing Tips Ezine"
"Sign up for fill in the blank ezine"

C'mon folks, no one is going to sign up for your ezine if you don't:

  • Tell them what the ezine is about.
e.g. Monthly tips on how to market yourself on line.
  • Tell them what to expect.
e.g. A brief read with tips you can implement right away.
  • Tell them how often to expect it.
    e.g. Once a month
  • Tell them where to view archives.
    e.g. mydomain.com/archives.html
  • Tell them why they'd be fools not to subscribe.
e.g. Find out why 10,000 subscribers can't wait to get their next issue.
  • Give them a privacy policy
e.g. Your address will nev*er be used for any purpose other than the delivery of this ezine.

Put it all together, and you get something like this:

Find out why 10, 000 sub*scribers can't wait until the next issue of With A Twist Ezine! Once a month you'll receive a brief read of quick and easy web marketing tips that you can implement right away.

Not convinced? View past issues here: www.ezezine.com/home/640/

No worries, your email address is totally secure and will nev*er be rented, sold, or shared with anyone else.

Granted, this is in lisa lingo. Make it your own. The point is, make it compelling to sign up, don't be ambiguous. Keep it real.

And, for goodness sake, put that subscription fo*rm on every page!
