Welcome...

To our new and returning readers! This issue of WAT focuses on switching from a you-centric site to a client-centric site.

It's All About You, Baby ...

I can't tell you how many service oriented websites I see that go on and on about the site owner or the company and speak nothing to the issues that their potential clients are going through. How the heck are your site visitors going to trust you, know that you can help them, know that you understand them if you're talking about *you* instead of talking about *them*?

Instead of the you, why not the them?:

Here's some examples of content I've found on sites (all about you) and some alternative wording (all about them) that could have a huge impact on site visitors (company names removed for red-face factor reasons)...

  • All about you:
Working with leaders in the UK's most successful companies for more than 4 years, xyz's sole aim is to provide executive women with the support they need to excel. For themselves and for their businesses.
    All about them:
It's not a man's world. It's your world. Executive women are the fastest growing corporate sector. How do you want to shine?
  • All about you:
Over years of working with clients I have found that people struggle when they put their professional and personal lives in a self-imposed limiting box and keep doing the same things over and over again.
    All about them:
Is your life like "Groundhog Day," doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?
  • All about you:
We use business coaching and leadership development to help small to mid-sized companies enhance their leadership per*formance, increase their pro*fits, and improve their productivity.
    All about them:
Are pro*fits dwindeling? Is your team's per*formance down?

Get the idea? Speak to your visitors! They don't care about you, what you do, or who you are, until they're ready to hire you. Up to that point, they want to know that you understand them and their challenges. Go reframe the wording of your site and watch your response rate grow.

Had a Taste Test?

How's your site performing for you? That's what I thought.

Wouldn't you like a web marketing expert to go through your site, page by page, and give you a comprehensive review plus recommendations on changes you can implement that will make your site a more effective tool for you?

A typical review is 12-20 pages of observations and recommendations, and includes a 1 hour telephone consultation with me. As one client said " My website signups have skyrocketed since your taste test! Thank You!"

Stressed Out?

Just for fun, here's one of my favorite stress reduction games. (Note: you will need the flash plugin to play.) To play, c*lick your mouse once to release the penguin, and then c*lick again to get the yeti to whack it. My high score is 321.1. Don't believe me? Here's a screen shot. What's your high score? Send me a screen shot!
