Women’s rights are
human rights?

Stephen Henry Lewis,
United Nations’ envoy for HIV AIDS in Africa, 2006, said:

“[Women's rights have] never been made real, and so long as men control the levers and bastions of power… it never will be real. The demeaning diminution of women is everywhere evident… freedom from sexual violence, the right to sexual autonomy, to sexual and reproductive health, social and economic independence, and even the whiff of gender equality are barely approximated. It’s a ghastly, deadly business, this untrammeled oppression of women in so many countries on the planet.”

Reflecting Love

There’s just no greater gift than to be a part of life on Earth. Yet at times like this when it seems the world has gone mad, or the holiday frazzles damper the most robust Ho, Ho, Ho, take a ‘self’ break to recover your joy!

Remember your dreams.

Relax your body, literally, with very slow ‘Ho’s as you exhale.

Renew your acquaintance with yourself by asking ‘who am I?’ and ‘who really loves me?’

Recall your millions of successes, like learning to tie your shoes or learning to water ski.

Reflect on your contributions to making life better for others.

Recharge your energy by raising your arms and pretending they are the prongs of an electrical plug; then imagine yourself plugging into the sky.

Rejuvenate your mind with thoughts of future fun you wish to create.

Refresh your image of your spirit, picturing its fullest capacity to love another.

Repeat these words: “I am loving, lovable, and loved.”

Rejoice at being alive!

Reward yourself with a big hug, a bow in your hair, a favorite melody, or healthy snack.

Return to the reality that only you can create the happiness of the holidays as you so desire.

Heeding my own advice, I will be taking a break from newsletter writing until January 6, 2008, but in the meantime, please enjoy my Web site. My e-Book announcement will appear there any day now!
