Company Exports Over 33,000 kg Organic Honey, Wax Products To European Markets
From Walta Info
Addis Ababa, November 24 (WIC) – Beza-Mar Agro-Industry, a private company announced that it has exported more than 33,000 kgs of honey and wax to the European market for the first time in the past two months.
Company administrator, Hailegiorgis Demisse told WIC that Ethiopia began exporting honey and wax products to European markets following an agreement reached with foreign companies.
He said the company has exported some 30,000 kgs of organic honey and 3,000 kgs of organic wax to England-and earned over 1.2 million birr revenue in September and October alone.
He also said the agreement reached between the government and various companies engaged in exporting honey to these European markets is an indicator of the attention the government has given to the export market.
The company is actively working to expand the volume of its exports, he said, and added that the company has the capacity of exporting 150 tons of honey and over half million pounds of honey products to the foreign markets.
The government needs to encourage honey producers and exporters in a bid to increase the sector’s competitiveness in the international market, he added.
After careful review, Bee Culture suspects that, if this is indeed organic wax, it may be the only source of wax this clean on the planet. Cosmetic and beekeeping buyers should take note.
